ðŸŽĻ When Coloring Saved Me — One Page at a Time

If you're a mom, you already know:
“Mommy? Mommy? Mommmmmmy!!!!?”
It’s cute the first five times.
By the thirty-fifth, you start questioning all your life choices.

So here’s what I do.
I quietly tiptoe past the LEGO minefield,
ignore the laundry mountain glaring at me from the couch,
and pull out... my coloring book.

The moment I pick up a colored pencil,
I stop being "Mom."
I’m just... me.

It started as a pretty little hobby.

I just liked the drawings. The soft lines. The dreamy colors.
But something unexpected happened.
As I filled in each shape,
the noise in my head got quieter.

The to-do list? Paused.
The guilt? Muted.
The dinner plan? …still forgotten, but less stressful.

Instead of spiraling through anxious thoughts,
I found myself wondering,
“Should this cat wear a lavender sweater or a blue one?”
That was the only decision I needed to make.
And somehow, that was enough.

Coloring through panic

There were days when I couldn’t breathe.
My heart raced for no reason,
my hands trembled,
and the weight of being everything for everyone felt like too much.

Once, during one of those moments,
I sat down, opened a coloring book, and just… started.
I didn’t even think. I just colored.

One little flower. One patch of sky. One leaf.
With every stroke, something inside me softened.
I wasn’t fixing everything. But I was still here.
Still me.

These days?

When the kids are busy building cardboard forts or pretending the floor is lava,
you’ll find me at the kitchen table
with a cup of coffee, a quiet heart, and a few colored pencils.

No one judges.
No one interrupts.
And the best part?
My drawings never talk back.

Coloring has become my pause button.
A little pocket of stillness in a very noisy life.
And in that stillness, I’ve found something sacred:
myself.

If you’ve been feeling tired, anxious, or just... done?

Try coloring.
Not to be productive. Not to be good at it.
Just to be.

Fill in one corner. One cloud. One silly little mushroom.
You might be surprised by how kind that can feel.

If you'd like to see the pieces I’ve been working on—
or maybe color along with me sometime—
you’re always welcome to stop by.
This is where I share my drawings, my quiet moments, and my healing.

I hope your day holds a gentle pause too,
and that you find something—however small—that brings you peace.
